"There's rosemary, that's for remembrance; pray,

love, remember: and there is pansies. that's for thoughts.

There's fennel for you, and columbines: there's rue

for you; and here's some for me: we may call it

herb-grace o' Sundays: O you must wear your rue with

a difference. There's a daisy: I would give you

some violets, but they withered all when my father

died: they say he made a good end,--" ophelia

the eyes have it

Evil Eye

Eye Miniatures

a long time ago, as in sometimes between 1700-1800, it was super fashionable in some circles to carry around a creepy tiny painting of the eye of your beloved (sometimes alive or deceased) fastened into an itty bitty bejewled pin. sometimes, it would also contain a lock of hair or some other weird momento mori shit. it was to be fastened on a lapel, close to the heart.

Jack Fairy of Velvet Goldmine
my favorite character ever in velvet goldmine, jack fairy, a statuesque transvestite, was my life role model at age 11. here he is wearing an eye ring with EYESHADOW above it.
